Former Vice President and presidential aspirant, Atiku Abubakar, has said he will put an end to insurgency “within the shortest possible time” if elected president.
Abubakar made the statement in Maiduguri, Borno State on Tuesday while addressing a gathering of supporters at the Forshams Hall.
He was accompanied by former governor of Ogun State and Director-General of the Atiku campaign Organisation, Senator Gbenga Daniel.
Abubakar said he wondered why the nation was still battling with insurgency after nine years when indeed it took less than three years to end the civil war.

His words: “Nigeria ended its civil war in only two and a half years despite the thick forest in the South-East.
“I wonder why the war against insurgency took us nine years; there must be something wrong somewhere.
“If elected, I will not allow any commander to tell me stories. We must end insurgency within the shortest possible time because the insurgency has crippled everything in the North-East,” Abubakar stated.
Also, the Director-General of the Atiku campaign Organisation, Senator Gbenga Daniel, in his remarks beckoned on the North-East to support Abubakar’s presidential bid.
His words: “This is the chance for the people of the North-East to produce the next President. You should not miss this opportunity to produce the President. So, I call on you to support one of your own,” Daniel said.
