At least 45 people have died in flood after a heavy downpour struck 10 communities in Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State.
Some of the flooded communities in Jibia LGA include: Tsohuwar Tukare Kwata, Ungwar Mai Kwari, Tukare, Dantudu and Sabuwar.
Residents were thrown into chaos as the rain which was said to have started at about 11p.m on Sunday and lasted for several hours, destroyed many houses, schools, vehicles and farmerlands.

Governor of Katsina state, Aminu Masari, on Monday visited the area to console with the residents and to ascertain the extent of wreckage.
Masari said: “It is high time for us to think of ways to assist those affected by the rainstorm and take adequate steps to prevent recurrence.
“To this end, necessary assistance will be given to the victims affected by the last night [Sunday] rainstorm, and we will take measures to provide alternative channels for the water in this local government area,” he said.
Similarly, Chairman of the Jibia Local Government Area, Almustapha Idris, confirmed the flooding saying 21 bodies have so far been buried, adding that neighbouring communities in Niger Republic have asked them to come and retrieve additional eighteen bodies.
