Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari, has congratulated the Minister of Mines and Solid Minerals, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, for winning the governorship ticket of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ekiti State, South West Nigeria, ahead of the governorship election in July.
Buhari commended all participants in the party’s state congress in Ekiti I what he described as a “keenly-contested primary.”
President Buhari also urged members to uphold the values and philosophy of the party by lending their support to the governorship candidate of the APC, Fayemi in the July 28 elections.
The President in a series of tweets said, “Congratulations to Fayemi on winning the APC ticket to contest the July 14, 2018 governorship elections in Ekiti State. I have no doubt that Dr Fayemi’s track record as a reformist—with a passion for education, health and welfare—will stand him in good stead in the elections.
“I would also like to commend all the participants in the keenly-contested Primary. I would like them to uphold the values and philosophy of the APC by joining hands to support Dr. Fayemi in the forthcoming elections.
“The APC takes internal democracy seriously, and the success of the Ekiti Primary, with more than 30 aspirants, further validates our party’s democratic credentials. Let me assure that we will continue to work hard to lead Nigeria to the next level of its development journey,” President Buhari tweeted.
