Forty-nine senators have signed a list objecting moves to oust Bukola Saraki as the President of the Senate.

The purpose for the list, reports say, was to notify the anti-Saraki senators against sacking the Senate President, Bukola Saraki and the deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu.

Some of the senators who appended their signatures to the list compiled at the foyer of the National Assembly on Tuesday include former senate president, David Mark (Benue); Jonah Jang (Plateau); Rabiu Kwankwaso (Kano).

Majority of the names were on the list, were members of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

The list was made available to pressmen, read: “We, the undersigned senators, hereby declare our total support for Senator Bukola Saraki and Ike Ekweremadu as President and Deputy Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“We are against any purported illegal impeachment being cooked up by a few minority (sic).”

It will be recalled that a gathering of congress persons of the All Progressives Congress were plotting to attack the National Assembly to reconvene and impact an authority change prompting the presence of a few PDP legislators, who chose to suspend their break, to frustrate the move.

But they were, at first kept from going into the National Assembly complex by equipped and covered agents of the Department of State Services who said they were following up on “orders from above.”
