Michael Jackson’s father, Joe Jackson, dies at 89

The patriarch of the musical Jackson 5 family, Joseph “Joe” Jackson, has died at a Las Vegas hospital, reports say.

Joe Jackson died on Wednesday at 89.

He was the father of pop stars Michael and Janet Jackson. He was at a time the manager of the musical group, The Jackson 5.

A tweet posted on Sunday from Jackson’s official Twitter account, read: “I have seen more sunsets than I have left to see. The sun rises, when the time comes and whether you like it or not the sun sets when the time comes.”

Reports say Jackson had been in ill health. The cause of death however, has not yet been disclosed.

Similarly, his daughter, La Toya Jackson, in a tweeted:

“I will always love you! You gave us strength. You made us one of the most famous families in the world. I am extremely appreciative of that. I will never forget our moments together and how you told me how much you cared. #RIP Joe Jackson.”

In 1949, Jackson got married to his wife, Katherine. The couple moved into a home on Jackson Street in Gary, Indiana. Joe and Katherine had 10 children.
