The electoral body in Nigeria, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has said that there were no evidences of underage voting in the northern state of Kano during the council poll.

The team stated that it has not received any evidence of underage voting.

Chairman of the committee responsible for the fact finding, Abubakar Nahuce, on Friday at a news briefing said, interactions with civil society organizations and the media revealed that there was no evidence of underage voting.

His words: “From all what we have seen and discussed with you media men, none of you has seen any underage voter in the line or voting.”

The electoral umpire had set up the committee to investigate the issue of underage voting in the state after videos and photos of illegible voters emerged purportedly taken during the council elections.
