Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, has sacked 25 commissioners from the state executive council asking them to hand over to the permanent secretaries of the various ministries.
In a statement on Wednesday, through the Director General Media and Public Affairs in the state Government House, Malam Abubakar Shekara, the governor explained that his decision was to make room for “restructuring and re-strategizing the cabinet for optimum efficiency and service delivery to the people of State”.
Tambuwal also acknowledged the former commissioners for their input to his administration.
However, the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state say Tambuwal’s move may be connected with his plans to quit the party for the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP.
Political analysts say the governor does not enjoy the backing of majority of the commissioners, as some of them were nominated by his predecessor, Senator Aliyu Wammako, who has also refused to quit the party.
